Automated blinds and window treatments

Where function meets aesthetics

To accentuate natural light, we can programme blinds, curtain track systems and skylights to open automatically at a set time in the morning and close at night or as desired. Shade rooms during the day or give the impression of occupancy while you’re away - all set on automatic schedules.

We take a bespoke approach to every blind control system we design & install

Window treatments are often overlooked when planning out the technology for a home, but once you have lived with them, it really is hard to go back. It is easy to think "how hard is it to roll up the blinds" but we frequently see areas where the blinds are never opened, or the curtains never shut just because of that small amount of friction required to go and do it. Having the window treatments automated brings them into the lighting control system and makes them a part of your lighting scenes.

We can lower the blinds when triggering the relaxed lighting scene transition at sunset or raise them 20 minutes before your alarm goes off in the morning to benefit from the natural light.

With further advances in technology, the latest Lutron wireless blinds are able to last 3 years before there is a need to change the batteries. This means motorised window treatments are no longer reserved for properties with the existing infrastructure and wiring in place.

TESTIMONIALS

Bespoke blinds & window treatments

  • ASSORTED TREATMENTS

The most common and well known motorised window treatments are roller blinds, but there are many more styles to choose from. Drapes or curtain track systems can be used in a variety of styles, including pinch pleat and ripple fold. There are sophisticated Roman blinds and wooden shading systems which bring the smooth and quiet motion to the tilt and lift functionality. We can even automate skylight blinds or tensioned systems for bottom up or angled windows.

  • AUTOMATION

Not having to think about the window treatments in your property is one of the best features of a motorised system. We tend to automatically program bedroom blinds to raise at a time in the morning when we know that person will have got up for the day. That way, if anyone comes back into the room during the day, the natural daylight is already coming in.

We might decide to set that time later on the weekends, so as to not interrupt a lie in! Blinds in hallways or communal areas might be programmed to open shortly after sunrise so that anyone getting up and leaving their bedroom can enjoy the natural light. We can program every window treatment in the property to close at sunset. Using the astronomic time clocks, the sunrise and sunset times change throughout the year based on the property location, so you don't have to think about it. We can also bring shades into other sequences. If you sit down to watch TV and it's during the day, we can automatically lower the blinds if required.

  • SECURITY & SAFETY

Incorporating the shading into your lighting control system gives another level of realism to the automated vacation mode. Even with a standalone shading system, setting a pre-determined scene for “away” when leaving to close all blinds will restrict the view inside your home.

We’ve all seen the hooks and clasps that can be fitted to the cords on roller blinds to reduce choking hazards for children but there is no better way of eliminating that danger than removing the cord altogether.

  • ENERGY SAVING

Utilise your shading system to save additional energy beyond routine use of blinds by taking advantage of sunlight warming a southern facing room to reduce heating costs in the winter or by lowering blinds and blocking solar heat gain, thereby reducing your cooling costs in the summer.
